Welcome to the Cobh Chronicle Archive
Cobh Chronicle magazine was first published in 2020, as a not-for-profit, community venture that would enable us to gather the historical knowledge, experiences and expertise of the local community.
Now, years later, we have built up a collection of articles on the stories of the town and its people. These include pieces on our island’s place names, families, characters, conflicts, events, tragedies and triumphs; our sportsmen, businesses, buildings, politics, music, traditions, fashions and habits. Many issues later, this has now become a fascinating archive of our town’s history and stories, which we were keen to share through this site.
All of these are accessible – free here– by clicking on the cover pictures for each issue on this page. Once you access the contents page for each issue, you can click on the article and download a pdf for each one.
Cobh Chronicle has been produced without grants and has been financed by advertising and sales. Every year we have donated thousands of euros to local charities, making the publication truly, for, about and by the local community.
We hope you enjoy – and respect – this extensive archive of free articles and appreciate our town better as a result.
